Sense HAT emulator on Raspbian

On the latest version of raspbian a new app appeared. This app is a sense hat emulator. It is very cool and when you do from sense_hat import SenseHat do from sense_emu import SenseHat instead. For example, here is some Python code that I found here! Here is the code, but this code is for the emulator instead of the emulator for your web browser:

from sense_emu import SenseHat

sense = SenseHat()
red = (255, 0, 0)
sense.show_message(“How cool is this?”, text_colour = red)

Have fun experimenting!

Installing Chromium 49 on Raspberry Pi 3

I tried looking at an older post, showing installation guide of Chromium 48 on Raspbian Jessie, but used 49 instead. It gave me errors about bad versions of packages and I had to use sudo apt-get -f install which uninstalled Chromium completely. I had to reinstall version 48 instead to get Chromium working again. I can’t remember what packages had old versions. Please can you comment to tell me how to get Chromium 49 and 52 running?!

Thanks!

Updating from Raspbian Wheezy to Raspbian Jessie

WARNING: Upgrading to jessie using this method is not supported and could be at your own risk. Please backup your SD Card before starting!

First, open up the terminal and check you have the latest Raspbian Wheezy:

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Then type:

sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list and change wheezy to jessie so It reads:

deb http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian/ jessie main contrib non-free rpi
# Uncomment line below then ‘apt-get update’ to enable ‘apt-get source’
#deb-src http://archive.raspbian.org/raspbian/ jessie main contrib non-free rpi

Save and then type:

sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/raspi.list

Change wheezy to jessie and add ui to the end so that it reads:

deb http://archive.raspberrypi.org/debian/ jessie main ui
# Uncomment line below then ‘apt-get update’ to enable ‘apt-get source’
#deb-src http://archive.raspberrypi.org/debian/ jessie main ui

Save and then type:

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

sudo rpi-update

WARNING: Depending on your internet speed and space left on your SD Card this could take a long time!

Finally, type:

sudo reboot

Once your Pi has rebooted, type into the terminal:

cat /etc/os-release

You should see the following:

PRETTY_NAME=”Raspbian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie)”
NAME=”Raspbian GNU/Linux”
VERSION_ID=”8″
VERSION=”8 (jessie)”
ID=raspbian
ID_LIKE=debian
HOME_URL=”http://www.raspbian.org/”
SUPPORT_URL=”http://www.raspbian.org/RaspbianForums”
BUG_REPORT_URL=”http://www.raspbian.org/RaspbianBugs”

If you do, then you have successfully upgraded your system to Raspbian Jessie!

If you still see wheezy instead of jessie then you may not of upgraded properly! Repeat the process.

A description for this result is not available because of this site’s robots.txt – How to fix

Recently, I had issues with my blog. I googled up ‘Epic Chas Gamer’ and it showed a link to my blog. The description said:

After doing a lot of fiddling with my blog’s settings, I managed to get a description for my blog. So, if you are getting these problems, follow this guide!

Try allowing your site to be indexed by search engines:

You will get this error if your site has been configured not to allow search engines to index it. On WordPress.com, go to Settings/Reading and find Privacy. Check the box next to ‘Allow search engines to index this site’ and then click Save Settings. After a few days the error should have gone.

If you are still getting this, please comment.
