One lovely blog award – who are my favourite bloggers?

This challenge has spread across the internet like fire (I didn’t create this challenge) so I have decided to do one. Basically, I have to tell you 7 things about my character. And up to 15 bloggers I enjoy. I have over 40 followers, but as there are limits (a few don’t have blogs) and you can only do up to 15. I am sorry if I do not include you!

So, here are the 7 things about me!

1. I think about my web browser project, ECG SeaSurf , for a lot of my time. I love it because the world wide web is a big place, and making software that allows people to browse such a great thing makes me feel special.

2. I do not try to block the spotlight from other developers as I love seeing what others have produced too, and I love getting inspired.

3. I love playing video games because they are extremely fun, and it feels like I am in the game (no VR here!). They also take stress away.

4. I love writing stories, to entertain people. I am writing a story called Sir Wolf’s Castle, about Minecraft wolves and a villan called Sir Bum-Smacker.

5. I love looking at over blogs and leaving feedback and liking posts because I don’t want to look selfish.

6. I love ketchup. It is an awesome sauce.

7. There are lots of other things I love but don’t blog about: Star Wars and Legends of Chima, for example.

Now, here are my favourite bloggers: I DO NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR LINK CONTENT CHANGING

Check out his blog at themarvelousmind.com

3.  ARJ

If you want a guide to coding and you want to be a pro, then ARJ’s blog “A bit of everything – copy” is the place for you. He has another blog, pythongr.wordpress.com, which is worth checking out too.

I can’t think of a tenth, but I want to reach 10, so if you recommend a blog, plz leave  a comment.

PS: The rules (I have forgotten the URL to the original creator’s blog) also mention that you should post about being chosen. So, thank you codeinfig for choosing me! SO, remember that!

Google Chrome for Windows XP and Vista end of support

Jack, who was featured in my last story, Internet Explorer 9 End of support and his Dad also have a desktop PC with Windows XP. Trouble occurs when Jack’s Dad can’t update Google Chrome on this PC. Read on to find out what happens.

Jack’s dad was on the computer. Jack was playing in his bedroom.  Jack comes downstairs and asks his dad what he is doing.

“Dad, whatcha doing?”

“I just found out that you can no longer update Chrome on Windows XP and Vista, Jack.”

“What will you do now, Dad?”

“Update to 7”

“OK. Good luck with that.”

5 MINUTES LATER

“How is is, Dad”

“My PC is incompatible with Windows 7 so I can’t download it”

“Oh no. I am going to be in trouble with your mother,  Jack!”

“Why?”

“Because your mother wants all software on all hardware to be updated, Son!”

“We have only one hour before she comes back from town!”

“We must hurry!”

So, Jack inserted a Windows 7 disk into the PC. Maybe it was compatible.

Jack installed Windows 7 and the PC was incompatible.

“Go to your room, Jack! You have broken the computer”

Jack’s Dad inserted a Windows Vista disk into the PC and installed Windows Vista, deleted Google Chrome and downloaded Firefox.

Jack’s Mum came in.

Hope you liked my story!

Using Chrome on Windows XP or Vista? Well, you are in danger!

Chrome was released in 2008 for Windows, and Linux and Mac OS X versions were released later on. CHROME IS OLDER THAN MINECRAFT.

Microsoft ended support for Windows XP on 8th April 2014, and Windows Vista support will end on 11th April 2017. Microsoft were enthusiastic when Windows XP was released, but enthusiasm comes… and fades.

Google have ended support for Chrome on Windows XP and Vista. If you are using one of these OSes, then you will need to update to at least Windows 7 to continue to use Chrome. If you don’t want to upgrade, then switch to Firefox for now.

Cheers!

Thunderbird on the Raspberry Pi

Hi guys! Today I found out how to install Mozilla Thunderbird (a program for answering your emails, compatible with various mail services including Outlook.com) onto the Raspberry Pi (it will only work on a Pi 2 and Pi 3). Here is how!

wget https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-mozilla-security/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+build/11078054/+files/thunderbird_45.4.0+build1-0ubuntu0.14.04.1_armhf.deb

sudo dpkg -i thunderbird_45.4.0+build1-0ubuntu0.14.04.1_armhf.deb

Then click Menu/Internet and then click Thunderbird Mail. I logged in with my Outlook.com account and it worked! Unlike IceDove which just said I had typed my password incorrectly (when I hadn’t, honestly). Wow! So I can guarantee that Thunderbird works with Outlook.com. It should work with GMail and other modern email as well! So you can install it onto your Raspberry Pi 2 or 3 using this guide!

Enjoy!
