ive never used the sdk personally– which im pretty sure you need to make android studio work. the closest ive come to making an “app” was packaging html, js and images to be loaded on a phone in a web browser.
you could create a game that way– but you would use the sdk to create a game that had features like: access to more sensors and the file system. to do that without the sdk, youd need at least some kind of local server. add this to the list of things i dont like about android development. but if you want real droid apps, i guess you need the sdk.

if only android studio was less lame. Anyways try app inventor, make a game or see a game on it and try to replicate it in Android Studio
